You could argue that, over the past two years, Samsung perfected the design formula for its Galaxy S flagships, specifically the base and Plus models. There's little-to-no room left to change for the better, but year after year, minor and incremental improvements can still happen. And according to a new rumor, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S24 series will have a slightly different frame design that might borrow from the latest foldable phones.
The Galaxy S22 and S23 have almost-flat frames, which make the phones feel weighty and resilient and improve grip while minimizing accidental near-bezel touches.
But as you might be able to tell from the photo above, the S23 frame still has a slight outside curvature around the middle. The frame is not completely flat and protrudes slightly in the mid-area.
This design element will reportedly change for the upcoming Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ (via @UniverseIce).

Galaxy S24 might borrow its frame design from foldable phones
If the rumor turns out to be correct, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ frames will eliminate the radius of curvature around their waistlines and be completely flat. Well, except for their very edges, which we're guessing might have a slight curvature.
As X user @esthetech pointed out, the Galaxy S24 frame could be more similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 rather than the iPhone. As you can probably tell from our hands-on video above, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a flat frame with just a bit of curve around the edges, giving it a bit of thickness.
To what degree these angles and radiuses will change for the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ (if at all) is unclear. As for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the rumor didn't mention it, which could mean that Samsung may stick to its Edge panel design for the S Pen-enabled flagship.
Samsung might unveil the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024, possibly in January or February. And speaking of frames, rumors also indicate that the Ultra model could adopt one made from titanium. Despite using this material, it won't be any heavier than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
