All Galaxy S24 models could have a titanium frame

For the last few years, Apple has been using stainless steel for the iPhone's frame to enable a more premium in-hand feel compared to aluminum. There have been many rumors that Samsung would adopt stainless steel as well, but that never happened, possibly because stainless steel can add quite a few grams to the total weight of the device.

Now, Samsung seems to have taken a liking to titanium, just like Apple. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max have a titanium frame, and Samsung is also rumored to be adopting a titanium frame for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, Samsung was reportedly planning on sticking to the existing aluminum frame, but according to the latest tidbit from X/Twitter, all three Galaxy S24 models could get a titanium frame.

Samsung is said to be producing titanium frames for the base Galaxy S24 and will be getting frames for the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra from third parties. And, well, that's about all we are getting from the latest rumor. All three Galaxy S24 models could have a titanium frame, and all three will possibly be costlier as a result.

As you may already know, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max don't 100% replace stainless steel with titanium. The frame is titanium but the internal structure is aluminum, which is a necessary combination as titanium has very low thermal conductivity and can't dissipate heat well. It is also costly, which is why Apple has used a conservative amount (the thickness of the titanium is only 1mm).

Samsung will no doubt take a similar approach, especially if it wants to put a titanium frame on all three models without raising pricing. But we would advise taking this rumor with a healthy dose of skepticism and waiting for more information to leak, which is bound to happen more and more as we get closer to the Galaxy S24 series' launch.
