Galaxy S24 battery info will excite you and infuriate you

With the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 now on sale around the world, Samsung is no doubt going to start focusing all its energy on its next flagship lineup, the Galaxy S24. And that also means we will see more and more information about the upcoming flagship leak online in the coming weeks and months.

This week's Galaxy S24 titbit comes from our friends over at GalaxyClub. It seems that the base Galaxy S24 model will be receiving a slight upgrade to battery capacity, just like the Galaxy S24+. Instead of a 3,900 mAh battery like the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23, the base S24 could have a 4,000 mAh battery.

Bigger Galaxy S24 battery won't be an upgrade for Galaxy S21 users

The base Galaxy S24 will basically be getting the same battery that Samsung used in the Galaxy S21. For those who weren't already aware, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ had smaller batteries (3,700 mAh and 4,500 mAh respectively) than the Galaxy S21 (4,000 mAh) and Galaxy S21+ (4,800 mAh).

Samsung did increase the capacities on the S23 and S23+ a year later, but still left them lower than those of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+. The company then had the nerve to portray the bigger batteries inside the Galaxy S23 and S23+ as an upgrade over the Galaxy S22 and S22+, conveniently forgetting to compare the battery capacities to those of the 2021 models, even though a lot more people change their phones every two years instead of every 12 months.

Thankfully, with the Galaxy S24 series, at least the Plus model will have a battery bigger than the one on the S21+, even if it won't be by a huge margin. The Plus model is expected to have a 4,900 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra will stick with a 5,000 mAh battery like all previous Galaxy S Ultra smartphones.
