Samsung has released the October 2023 security update to the factory-unlocked Galaxy S23 series phones in the US. The international variants of the phones received this update last week. This could be the last minor software update before the impending release of the stable Android 14 update that is expected to reach Galaxy S23 phones later this month.
Unlocked Galaxy S23 phones get October 2023 security update in the US
The latest security update for the Galaxy S23 comes with firmware version S91xU1UES1AWIF in the US. It brings the October 2023 security patch that fixes various security vulnerabilities that were found in the previous software version. The update is currently available on all carrier networks, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket, DISH, Sprint, Tracfone, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.
If you have a factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, or Galaxy S23 Ultra, you can check for the new update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series earlier this year with Android 13-based One UI 5.1 software onboard. The devices will get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update later this month or early next month. Samsung promised to offer four major Android OS updates to these smartphones.
Author's Note: Since Samsung has already released seven Android 14 (One UI 6.0) beta updates to the Galaxy S23 series in several countries, I expect the company to end the One UI 6.0 Beta Program for smartphones and release the stable Android 14 update sometime in the next few days. Looking at Samsung's track record with beta and stable updates, expect the stable Android 14 update to start rolling out in several countries by the end of this month.
